We try to keep things short and sweet here at Tiny Saints! So without further ado, here are our top five saints for the Christmas and Advent season:
#5 - Saint Gabriel the Archangel
Let's show St. Gabriel some love! When it comes to Christmas, Gabriel was the one to get things started. It was Gabriel who appeared to Mary and Gabriel who invited her to participate in the greatest miracle the world has ever seen.
#4 - Saint Nicholas
We can complain all we want about how Santa Claus is really just a secular version of St. Nicholas, but let's be honest... isn't it nice that the world's most beloved gift-giver is actually rooted in Christian tradition? I'll take it!
#3 - Saint Anne
Want to know something 95% of Catholics don't know? St. Anne (Jesus' grandmother) experienced the Immaculate Conception, not Mary! Mary was going to carry Jesus one day and therefore needed to be free from original sin from the moment she was conceived. That is what the Immaculate Conception refers to - not Mary conceiving Jesus. 🤯
#2 - Saint Joseph
The first time we meet Joseph, he decides to stand by Mary despite her unexpected pregnancy. Then he does whatever it takes to find a place for Jesus' birth. Then he safeguarded his young family by escaping to Egypt. Joseph is a silent hero of the Gospels. He never asked for the spotlight, but he sure deserves it come Christmas time.
#1 - Mary
If there was ever an opportunity to connect with Our Lady, it's Christmas. The story of Jesus' birth is one of the few up close and personal stories of Mary. And it's deeply human. Christmas is a chance to view Mary for who she was: someone just like you and me but free from original sin. May her faith, confidence, and courage be an inspiration to all of us this year.
And there you have it! Have a wonderful Christmas, dear friends!
