Perpetua was a bold young mother from a noble family; Felicity, a pregnant servant awaiting freedom. Jailed together for refusing to renounce Christ, their friendship and fierce joy in suffering produced a sisterhood not of blood but of baptism, that sustained them through the doorway to eternity.
