Saint Marcellin Champagnat
As the French Revolution ravaged the country, Father Marcellin founded a community of brothers dedicated to Mary that established schools in rural communities. While traveling, Marcellin and one of the Brothers were caught in a blizzard. With all hope fading, they pleaded for Mary's help by praying the Memorare. At the last minute, the men caught a glimpse of a farmer’s lantern and were saved! Today the Marist Brothers, and lay Marist men and women, work in more than 80 countries.
